Hummers...

We have the sweetest little hummingbird in our yard. I was out watering the other day and she hovered about, keeping an eye on me. As she flitted from branch to branch, the sun would catch the iridescence of her feathers: Her wings became a vivid blue-green and her little head would flash a gorgeous magenta. It was just for a fleeting moment and only when the sun shone directly on her. I thought such a simple thing was such a wondrous gift. I love color and when it comes in small doses with mighty expectations, the brilliance is simply overwhelming.

We had to cut down the last of the trumpet vine that was still in bloom, in order to fix our fence. I ordered a feeder from Mo's
"The Wren's Nest," and it arrived today. I quickly cooked up some sugar water for her and hope it will get her through the winter. It's the least I can do to thank her for the joy of her presence in my yard.

What a beautiful sight. I agree, sometimes small pleasures can really brighten someone's day.

I LOVE my hummers........ We live in Oklahoma so they have all gone now but when the spring finally gets here I will have my feeders cleaned and ready to go!!!!! I have on right in front of my picture window in my kitchen... Summer before last when we were in drought I had one little dark green one follow me around while I watered... He would dart in and out of the spray..... I did so love to watch him... they are such little blessing from God....

Birds are cool. If you like hummingbirds you should try parrots - we're much bigger.

Hummingbirds are so beautiful. I stare at amazement when they hover nearby; they seem so "friendly."

A beautiful post!
The Hummingbird Feeder you bought, The Hummzinger, was rated as the Best Hummingbird Feeder of 2006.
I sold more of those than of all my other hummer feeders COMBINED in 2006 & 2007.
Such wonderful design - the built-in ant moat is one of my favorite features!
Glad you like it!
cheers,
