Not that I'm advocating we all go indulge in lard by the bucket, but this was well before the "Nanny State" that I live in!

Ewwwwwww, yes. I remember lard. My grandmother cooked with it. And the taste was atrocious. I never and will never like anything cooked in it or with it.
