Magic Monday - Big

That sure opens up a can of worms! There are so many ways to use the word "big" that I was stumped! Then, while looking through my photos, it came to me. My Nanday Conure, Spanky, has one ginormous beak that he has used to puncture numerous parts of my body. He really is a sweet bird and it's not the same thing as a dog biting out of meanness.

Basically, he nips me when he wants me to do something or if he thinks he senses danger. Little bugger. He will not let my hubman anywhere near him without pitching a horrific fit. We now understand that birds bond with one person - and it sure wasn't hubman he bonded with!

Birds are extremely intelligent. I got Spanky when he was two years old (hence the name, wasn't my choice) and the lady in the family was the one he didn't "bond" with and the husband had been told, "It's me or the bird, buddy!"

We also have a cockatiel, Spike, and the two are not compatible. I guess it's where the phrase, "birds of a feather flock together!" He does love to give and get kisses. Their beaks are very sensitive. Sometimes when he sitting with me he'll curl up next to my neck and sleep. Then he will place his beak right smack on my lips and make a kissing sound. Like I said, he's a sweetie.
When he's not putting his beak through my lip!

Yeah, I know - only an idiot would put up with such behavior from a "pet," and I guess you'd be right. I'm easy....
