13 Things I Learned In Oklahoma

1. It's humid.

2. It's beautiful!

3. There are more restaurants than I've ever seen in one town and a Sonic on every corner.

4. The corn is as high as an elephant's eye!

5. The people are 100% nicer than in L.A. and I told the airline guy that. He smiled.

6. The servers in all of the restaurants we visited were absolutely friendlier than
in California! Should that surprise anyone?

7. The moon looks much larger - and it was full.

8. Don't ever drive on the freeway (turnpike) when buckets of rain, literally, are pouring off of
the freeway overpasses and your vehicle is making a wake!

9. Running down the street in a lightning storm is fun (and scary!).

10. Oklahoma soil is red.

11. Visiting the Oklahoma bombing memorial is heartbreaking and uplifting all at once.

12. Bricktown is awesome!

13. I will definitely return...Good Lord willin' and the creek don't rise.

I have not been there but you make Oklahoma sound so beautiful. I hope to get there one of these days, and hopefully not when it's humid!

You can visit my TT here.

Wonderful list...but then I was born and raised in Oklahoma (Tulsa). There is brown dirt in Tulsa, but out west it definitely turns red!
Glad you enjoyed your trip. Y'all come back now, ya hear!

Red dirt. It's always a surprise.

I don't think you'd catch me out in the lightning down there!

Happy T13!

I've only driven through Oklahoma, but now you've made me want to stop the next time.

Happy TT!

Glad you made it back safely, especially with all the flooding going on there.

Yep and that red dirt stains everything it gets on... Oklahoma gets a bad rap (especially from Texans like me) but you are right, it is a beautiful state (she says begrudgingly) and the people are genuinely friendly. Great TT... visit mine at A grown-up. Really?

One of the things I remember about Oklahoma was the red soil and the wide open spaces.

And of course the corn is as eye as an elephant's eye - they wouldn't have sung about that if it weren't true!

Oklahoma - you're OK!!
