we were collecting a lot of smoke from one of California's
massive fires a couple of years ago, which created an
eerie, glowing sunset.

Hi Gracie. I came by to wish you a wonderful 2009. May this year bring you many great blessings. God bless.
Oh wow, Gracie. Our skies look a bit similar this week! Mine is smokeless, though thank goodness.
Thanks for playin' along, my friend! You rock.

It always amazes me how the fires - so horrible and destructive - can still create such beautiful skies!!
I'm with Dianne. It is amazing that horrific fires lead to lovely and colorful skies.
Happy New Year, Gracie.
It definitely does look like the skies are on fire in that shot. At least along with the destruction, the fires provide a beautiful visual just showing that if you look hard enough you can generally find something good even in something bad. At least a lot of times though definitely not all the time!
Wow! What a sky! As Dianne said - it's amazing how a horrible and destructive event can create a beautiful sky such as this.
Kind of a scary feeling when it's that close, isn't it?
A bit scary, but beautiful too. :)
Nice Shot Gracie! Happy New Year
It is a bit odd that what the fire destroys it illuminates the sky for the nice pastels. Quite a picture!
